CLIENT B’S STORY

One client was released from prison to approved premises in York, despite having previously lived in Nuneaton and being managed by a probation officer based there. After 12 weeks in the approved premises, the client was moved to temporary accommodation in Rugby, where he was referred to our service (FU).

We matched the client with a mentor, who provided intensive one-to-one support focused on daily living tasks — particularly around managing his health, as the client has Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). After a further 12 weeks, the client was told he would need to leave his temporary accommodation and move into a B&B in Nuneaton. His mentor supported him with the physical move, helping to pack and transport all of his belongings, and then worked closely with him to secure longer-term private rented accommodation.

As the client required a guarantor, the mentor contacted around 20 people on his behalf to explore this option. Once accommodation was secured, the mentor supported the client with the move into his new home, ensuring he was settled and had all essential items in place.

This support was greatly appreciated by the client, who is now living independently in stable accommodation. The mentoring relationship has successfully come to an end, having helped the client to make significant progress in his health, emotional wellbeing, and housing stability.
