Futures for a fiver

When people are released from prison, they have very little – often no home, no money, no confidence, and no clue how they are going to rebuild their life.

The offer of support from Futures Unlocked, includes prison pick‑up and practical help during the first few days that follow release. This time is when vulnerability and risk are at their highest.

Each referred client undergoes a risk and needs assessment to develop a tailored support plan, which may include steps towards accommodation, recovery from trauma, improving health, education and decision‑making and behaviour. However, first things first, a prison leaver often needs simple things like shower gel, toothpaste and bed to sleep in. Your five pounds helps us to support prison leavers with their basic needs in those first few important days.  In subsequent months we will stretch your five pounds and use it towards the cost of training our volunteer mentors.

Everything we do with our clients is about helping them to build safer, more stable lives and reducing the risk of reoffending.  We know that the support we offer really works and we have lots of success stories. Some of clients have gone on to start their own businesses or learned new skills leading to employment. Others find a way to repair relationships with their family, and this leads to all round better life outcomes. By giving five pounds per month, you can be part of a success story.
